Arrival in Tanzania – Welcome to Arusha

Your African adventure begins when you arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK). A friendly representative from Mnava Tours and Safari will welcome you and transfer you to your accommodation in Arusha.

After checking in, relax and recover from your journey. Depending on your arrival time, you may have an opportunity to explore the surroundings or enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of your lodge.

Later, meet your safari guide for a briefing about the upcoming journey. Your guide will explain the itinerary, wildlife-viewing opportunities, park regulations, and essential safari information.

Arusha – Tarangire,Elephant paradise and Baobab Landscapes

After breakfast, depart Arusha and travel to Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania’s most rewarding wildlife destinations.

Known for its magnificent baobab trees, open savannah, seasonal swamps, and the Tarangire River, the park attracts large numbers of wildlife, particularly during the dry season.

Enjoy a game drive through the park in search of elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes, impalas, and other antelope species. With luck, you may encounter lions resting beneath trees or spot other predators moving through the grasslands.

Tarangire is also an excellent destination for birdwatching, with numerous bird species inhabiting its varied ecosystems.

The crater supports a remarkable concentration of wildlife. During your game drive, look for lions, elephants, buffaloes, hyenas, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, and numerous bird species. With luck, you may encounter the endangered black rhinoceros. Your guide will help you search for wildlife while explaining the area's ecology and conservation significance.

Full day Game Drive in Ndutu Region

Today is dedicated to exploring the wildlife-rich Ndutu region and the surrounding southern Serengeti ecosystem.

After an early breakfast, head into the plains for a full day of wildlife viewing. Depending on the season, Ndutu can offer spectacular opportunities to witness large herds of wildebeest and zebras, accompanied by predators such as lions, cheetahs, hyenas, and leopards.

During the wildebeest calving season, generally around January to March, the grasslands can become a nursery for thousands of newborn wildebeest. This attracts predators and creates fascinating opportunities to observe natural wildlife behaviour.

Enjoy a picnic lunch in the wilderness before continuing your afternoon game drive through the open plains and seasonal lakes. Your guide will adapt the route to current wildlife movements and road conditions.

Ngorongoro crarer – Return to Arusha

Early Morning: Breakfast and Descent into Ngorongoro Crater

After an early breakfast at Ngorongoro Lodge Meliá Collection, depart for an exciting game drive in the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater. Accompanied by your professional safari guide, descend the crater slopes into one of Africa’s most remarkable wildlife destinations.

The crater floor features open grasslands, freshwater springs, swamps, woodland, and Lake Magadi, creating a rich habitat for a variety of wildlife. During your game drive, look out for elephants, lions, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests, spotted hyenas, hippos, and, with luck, the endangered black rhinoceros.

Your guide will help you explore different areas of the crater while sharing fascinating information about its wildlife, landscape, and ecosystem. Lake Magadi is also a wonderful place to observe flamingos and other waterbirds.

Midday: Picnic Lunch in the Crater

Enjoy a picnic lunch at a designated picnic site inside the Ngorongoro Crater. Take time to relax, enjoy the beautiful surroundings, and appreciate the unique atmosphere of this extraordinary natural wonder.

Afternoon: Ascend from the Crater and Drive to Arusha

After your game drive, begin the ascent from the crater floor and exit the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Continue by road towards Arusha, passing through the scenic landscapes of the Ngorongoro Highlands and Karatu region.

Enjoy views of rural Tanzania and the changing scenery along the way. Upon arrival in Arusha, you will be transferred to your hotel or another agreed drop-off location, marking the end of your safari adventure.

Enjoy a relaxed final morning in Tanzania with an optional guided Arusha city tour, depending on your departure flight schedule.

Visit the lively Central Market to experience everyday local life and discover fresh produce, spices, crafts, and souvenirs. Continue to the Cultural Heritage Centre to explore Tanzanian art, sculptures, and cultural collections. You may also stop at the famous Arusha Clock Tower for photographs.

If time permits, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before your transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport for your onward journey.

Tanzania offers excellent opportunities to see a wide range of wildlife, but no animal sighting, including the Big Five, can be guaranteed.

What to pack

Bring neutral-coloured clothing, a warm layer for cool mornings, comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, insect repellent, binoculars, and a camera.
